Chemistry: Inaugural Lecture by PD Dr. Thomas Exner
On Thursday, 28th of June, 2012 in auditorium A 704, Zukunftskolleg Alumnus PD Dr. Thomas Exner will be holding his inaugural lecture titled "NMR, Proteine und Computerchemie".
Valerie Shafer und Joseph Y. Halpern at the Zukunftskolleg
The Zukunftskolleg is warmly welcoming the Senior Fellows Prof. Valerie Shafer and Prof. Joseph Y. Halpern, who are our guests since 3rd June.
Valerie Shafer has been nominated by our Alumna Tanja Rinker and will stay until 26th July. She is dedicating this time period to her project “The relationship between speech-perception and language development in bilingually exposed preschoolers“. We are also happy to announce her workshop „Studies on normal and impaired language acquisition in monolingual and bilingual children and adults“, which will take place on 12th and 13th July and is organized together with Tanja Rinker.
Joseph Y. Halpern, nominated by the Zukunftskolleg Fellow Franz Huber, resumes his last stay in Konstanz in 2011 and will hold the lecture “Intransitivity and Vagueness“ on Monday, 18th of June, within a workshop of the Department of Philosophy (15.00-20.00, V 1001) .
On 21st June he will be honored by the Zukuftskolleg Lecture and give a presentation on the topic „Knowledge and common knowledge in multi-agent-systems“(A 702, 17.00-18.30 Uhr). Joseph Y. Halpern will remain in Konstanz until 20th July.
Professor Adam Berg to give a public lecture at the University of Konstanz
Professor Adam Berg will give a lecture titled “What happens to science and art in the age of transcoding?” on 22nd of March 2012 in Y 311 from 11:45 till 13:30 (the abstract is available here).
Professor Berg is an adjunct associate professor in the Liberal Arts and Sciences department at Otis College of Art and Design and also teaches at the School of Critical Studies at the California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts). He studied art at the Academia delle Belle Arti, Rome, Architecture at the University of Toronto, and holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Haifa, Israel. He was an Artist-in-Residence at the McLuhan Center for Culture and Technology, University of Toronto and the Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito.
Professor Berg was invited to the University of Konstanz by Zukunftskolleg Senior Fellow Yoram Carmeli and is till 25th of March in Konstanz.

As in the Summer Term 2011, the Zukunftskolleg would like to distinguish two Senior Fellows Prof. Dr. Sabine von Heusinger (University of Cologne) und Prof. Dr. Klaus von Heusinger (University of Stuttgart) who contributed massively to the interdisciplinary environment of the excellent researchers of the University of Konstanz.
In their common lecture (in English) they will deal with the meaning and function of the names from a linguistic and historical point of view. After the lecture and the following discussion the Zukunftskolleg cordially invites everyone to a reception. If necessary the Zukunftskolleg will reimburse the costs for childcare during the session (registration: stefanie.sender(at)uni-konstanz.de).

"Social Origins of Musik" - Lecture on 6 May 2010
The Biologist Sebastian Kirschner from the Max Plank Institute of Evolutional Entropology in Leipzig will talk about the "Social Origins of Musik" and will present very interesting behavior studies concerning musical experience of children in the early years of life. Sebastian is a graduate student of Michael Tomaselo, famous for his research in social cognition, social learning and communication. Poster
The talk will take place on thursday, May 6th in R 512 from 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM. Since this talk is open to the general public, it will be in German language. The lecture is co-organized by Zukunftskolleg Fellow Margarita Stolarova within the series "Early Childhood Development and Education".
